The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), in partnership with TotalEnergies EP Uganda, has unveiled the Explore Uganda mobile app, a new platform designed to elevate the travel experience for visitors to Uganda.
The app offers a comprehensive, one-stop solution for tourists, allowing them to plan their trips, connect with local service providers, and share feedback.
It aims to make travel more seamless while boosting interest in Uganda as a top global tourism destination.
During the launch on Thursday, UTB CEO Lilly Ajarova highlighted the app’s key features, including detailed destination guides, real-time event updates, interactive maps, and personalized itineraries. These tools, she noted, make it easier for travelers to explore Uganda’s natural beauty, rich heritage, and vibrant culture.
“This app is part of our strategy to position Uganda as a leading global tourism destination,” Ajarova said.
“We are leveraging technology to ensure that Uganda’s world-class attractions and authentic experiences are accessible and engaging for all travelers. The app will provide an interactive way to experience our country’s diverse landscapes, biodiversity, and culture.”
She emphasized that the mobile platform will bring Uganda closer to potential visitors, whether they are planning their trip or already in the country.
Pauline MacRonald, TotalEnergies EP Uganda’s biodiversity director, added that the app aligns with the company’s commitment to shared prosperity and local economic development.
“By supporting this initiative, we are contributing to the digitization of Uganda’s tourism industry and creating opportunities for young tech professionals to develop essential digital tools,” she said.
MacRonald also noted that the Explore Uganda app will serve as an online marketplace for community-based tourism enterprises, tour operators, and potential investors, enabling global access to vital information.
