National Unity Platform Party leadership has held a rally in Bundibugyo District after being blocked by security forces from accessing the Boma Grounds that they had booked.
During the rally, NUP president Bobi Wine real name Robert Kyagulanyi urged the youths that gathered on the road to the Democratic Republic of Congo to copy fellow youths in Kenya to demand accountability from Ugandan leaders.
NUP leadership has criticized Museveni for corruption and lack of the will to fight poverty in the country. They said at the rally that they would return soon to Bundibugyo for more political gatherings with residents.
Bobi Wine also told the youths not to fear politicians and not to wait for the politicians to tell them what to do urging them to rise in big numbers to remove President Museveni.
“The people of Bundibugyo voted for me as their president and I have since returned the power to them,” said Bobi Wine.
“The last time I was here, I asked you to entrust me with power, which you did by voting for me to be your president. I am here to tell you that I returned that power to you,” he added.
Bobi’s remarks come amidst preparations for the March to Parliament protest slated for next week on July 23. The protest was first heard following the anti-finance bill protests in Kenya.
