Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, has confirmed the arrest of singer Vyroota, real name Musigazi Abdulaziz, on charges of procuring an abortion.
Reports indicate that Vyroota got a girl pregnant but expressed unwillingness to take responsibility when informed.
He reportedly urged her to terminate the pregnancy.
The girl initially resisted and sought help from the singer’s manager, Walugembe.
However, instead of offering support, Walugembe is said to have joined Vyroota in pressuring the girl to go through with the abortion.
Despite her initial refusal, the two allegedly convinced the girl to terminate the pregnancy.
When her parents learned of the incident, they were deeply distressed and promptly reported the matter to the police.
Speaking to Sanyuka TV in a phone interview, Onyango revealed that the two individuals are in police custody, a case has been opened, and investigations are ongoing.
