Ugandan female vocalist Iryn Namubiru delved into the painful decision of cutting ties with her mother and how it affected her morale to release new music.
During one of her YouTube interviews, Irene Namubiru recounted her Japan arrest, where she had booked to perform for the Ugandan community.
Unfortunately, the gig took a toll on her life and music career, as she was arrested on charges of drug trafficking, little did she know she had been set up by the people she trusted.
Following her release, one of her music producers advised her to fire her manager, claiming he was behind planting drugs in her luggage.
Iryn was so quick to confront her manager, who didn’t deny the allegations. The singer sought advice from her mother about the saga, but she didn’t react seemingly she already knew about it all.
“I took him to my mother and I told her everything that happened but my mother was indifferent, she didn’t react.”
In the turn of events, her brother started preaching falsehood about her, however, remained tight-lipped in an effort to keep peace.
“My brother started saying that I should have been arrested or killed back in Japan.”
She says that was tormented by the very people she thought would be by her side during the tough time when she had just returned from Japan. Despite attempts to have a conversation about her brother’s behavior her mother didn’t want to talk or listen and acted manically.
“I tried talking to my mother but she started yelling and banging doors in my house. She didn’t even try listening to what I wanted to say.”
Over time more truths about the Japan incident came to light and the singer says she has all these recordings with her that must be played at her funeral.
Following the incident, Iryn Namubiru cut all ties with her mother saying they haven’t spoken in over 10 years. She has been seeing therapists and psychologists over the years in hopes of finding healing.
The singer also revealed that she wrote a manuscript that will be released someday because she wants people to know her story.
