Nigerian stars – Magixx, Bayanni, Boy Spyce geared up for Eastside Tour

By Reagan Ssempijja

On April 5, the Eastside tour will cross over to Uganda, for the first time, and to headline the maiden edition, Nigerian stars Bayanni, Magixx, and Boy Spyce, all of whom are signed to Nigerian music label – Mavin Records, will grace the stage, at Ndere Centre, Ntinda, to excite their Ugandan fans.

It has been a minute, since Kampala revellers last got thrilled by a Nigerian artist on stage, especially considering the frequency at which a plethora of them (Nigerian musicians) had started flocking Uganda, in the recent years.

To quench the thirst, therefore, Mavin records and Talent Africa chose the trio to treat fans to some of their favourite Afrobeats music from Naija.

Although the names Bayanni, Magixx, and Boy Spyce may not be ring a bell as loud as, say, Ruger, Rema, or Tems, all of whom are from Nigeria, their music is undoubtedly very popular in Ugandan bars and elsewhere.

From Bayanni’s Ta Ta TaCasanovaGoddessBody, to Magixx’s All Over, Love Dont Cost A Dime, to Boy Spyce’s YouNobody, and Relationship, among others, Kampala partygoers, especially the Gen-Zs, can sing word for word to most of their songs.

This event, according to its organizers, is designed, not only to highlight the diverse skills and creativity of individuals, but also to foster connections and collaborations among Nigerian and local musicians, industry stakeholders.

Each of the three young artists is distinctively known for something, with Bayanni being known for his infectious beats and captivating lyrics; Magixx, for fusing traditional African rhythms with contemporary sounds, making him one  of the favorites among fans worldwide. Boy Spyce, with his distinct voice and engaging stage presence, is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after artists in the industry.

To be part of the event, revellers will have to part with sh50,000 for what has been dubbed the Lit Zone, sh1.5m for a  group of four, and sh3m or VVIP experience of eight people.
