Heavy rains accompanied by storms which lasted for one and half hours have damaged three major schools at the heart of Mbale City.
The downpour that occurred in the afternoon of Wednesday, 16th May, 2024 destroyed classrooms in Nkoma Secondary School, Mbale High and part of Mbale School of Nursing all located at North City Division in Mbale City.
The storm blew off some iron sheets in three classrooms in Mbale High and a few others in Mbale School of Nursing. Nkoma S.S was however the most affected.
Ramazan Ntege, the deputy head teacher of Nkoma secondary school says that the rains unroofed 14 class rooms including a computer laboratory.
Ntege adds that no student was injured since the incident happened during holiday time.
He also says that they have lost properties like computers among other properties worth millions of Shillings.
The deputy head teacher urged government to support them with items like iron sheets, timber among others to replace damaged buildings.
