The General Court Martial in Makindye has sentenced Eron Kiiza, one of the lawyers representing Dr.Kizza Besigye to nine years imprisonment.
Kiiza was jailed for contempt of court on Tuesday.
Earlier, Kiiza was arrested following chaotic scenes at the army court in Makindye as Besigye together with his co-accused , Obeid Lutale.
The arrest came on orders of the Judge Advocate, Brig Richard Tukacungurwa.
Kiiza was however sentenced without being formally charged by the army court.
Following the development, defence lawyers led by Martha Karua and Erias Lukwago refused to proceed with the case in absence of their colleague.
They insisted that Kiiza had critical submissions to make and that they could not proceed in his absence.
The army court chairman, Brig Freeman Mugabe consequently adjourned the case to January,13.
