The Anti-Corruption Court has issued Criminal Summons to John Wetanga, the Farm Manager to the former State Minister for Karamoja Affairs Agnes Nandutu; ordering him to appear on July,1st, 2024 and testify against his boss in the iron sheet case .
Former Minister and also Bududa District Woman MP is accused of diverting 2000 pieces of iron sheets meant for Karamoja Community Empowerment Programs.
Prosecution states that Wetanga is a credible witness who was present during a search at – Kkola Cell Bulwanyi Parish in Mukono District on 24th/ March/2023 where Police recovered 1,617 iron sheets from Nandutu’s Farm House.
However, according to Prosecution’s David Bisamunyu, the said Witness John Wetanga has refused to come to court to testify.
Bisamunyu informed presiding Judge Jane Okuo Kajuga that he is remaining with three more Prosecution Witnesses to close his case against Nandutu.
The pending witnesses are, the Investigating Officer Jennifer Nakatudde who is nursing an operation having given birth by ceaserian; and John Wetanga who has become elusive.
It is against this background that Justice Kajuga advised Prosecution to use the available means under the Law to have the said witness compelled; and Bisamunyu applied to Court Wetanga summoned.
So far eight Prosecution Witnesses have testified against Nandutu.
Nandutu is battling charges of Dealing with suspect property of 2000 iron sheet she allegedly received from the Prime Minister’s Office at Namanve stores in Mukono District in June/2022.
