Czech Republic And Uganda Strengthen Bilateral Relations

A delegation from the Czech Republic which is in the country on a 5-day consultative visit to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries has commended Uganda for her regional peace keeping efforts.

The delegation led by Katerina Sequensova, Director General for Non-European Countries, Economic and Development Cooperation was received for the bilateral consultative meeting by Ambassador Elly Kamahungye, the Director for Regional and International Economic Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA).

During the discussions, Kamahungye and Sequensova underlined the warm and close ties between Uganda and the Czech Republic.

Both sides noted that the bilateral relations have tremendous potential and reaffirmed the mutual desire to strengthen political, economic, health, defense, education, scientific, and social cooperation.

The Czech Republic commended Uganda for its significant role in contributing to peace and security in the region, applauding Uganda’s commitment and open-door policy towards refugees.

Both sides were of the view that without defense, countries cannot prosper, and committed to enhancing cooperation in this sector.

The two sides expressed interest in building tourism cooperation, with the Czech Republic inviting Uganda to participate in the Annual Holiday Fair to be held in the first quarter of 2025 in the Czech Republic.

Kamahungye was accompanied by Heads of Departments, officials from MOFA, and officials from the Ministries of Energy and Education.

Sequensova was accompanied by Vaclav Prasil, Director of Sub-Saharan Africa; Jan Spiler, Chief of Strategic Projects and Defense Cooperation; Ambassador Nicol Adamcova, Czech Ambassador to Uganda; Stepan Konopasek, Deputy Head of Mission, Czech Embassy, Nairobi; Gen. Borijov Jurenke, Defense attaché; Marta Anna Ledgard, Head of Trade, Czech Embassy; and Steven Mpuuga Kaboyo, Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Uganda.
