On Tuesday 18th June 2024, FUFA President Moses Magogo along with other FUFA officials held a consultative meeting with representatives from potential community clubs in the Ugandan Premier League and FUFA Big League.
The meeting aimed to discuss the challenges and opportunities of establishing these clubs and fostering stronger ties between clubs and their communities.
Clubs like Kitara, Onduparaka, Paidha Black Angels, Mbale Heroes, Busoga United, and Lugazi were all present at the discussion. Moses Magogo emphasized the importance of community-owned clubs in generating local support for football and nurturing talented players within specific regions.
According to FUFA’s definition, a community club is one that has at least 100 members. In 2022, FUFA launched a community club framework to guide football-loving regions in setting up sustainable and successful clubs that resonate with their local communities.
