Mpuuga Welcomes Court Ruling On Shs1.7Bn Service Award

Former Leader of Opposition, (LOP) has welcomed the court ruling that upheld the Shs1.7Bn Service Award.

He says the MPs leading the censure of the Commissioners are not knowledgeable about Parliament rules and practices and are now a burden to taxpayers.

Mpuuga has in that regard asked Ugandans to not just use their mouths, but also brains and ears, saying had they effectively used all the parts on their heads, they wouldn’t have orchestrated an eight-month attack to taint his image and reputation over the service award.

He adds that because the Court Ruling has vindicated his team’s argument that the Service Award was legally approved in Parliament.

Mpuuga wonders why the public was confused about the service award arguing that he never received money as a commissioner but rather as the former LOP, which are different roles.

“I was eager to know what law I violated and in which court I was convicted. I heard that some people took the matter to court, but I was not convicted. Even those who went to criminal court withdrew the case,”remarks Mpuuga in other interviews he has had in the media on the matter.

He also says that the accusations he faced do not diminish his responsibility as a parliamentarian to pass laws, conduct oversight, review the budget among others.

In a subtle aim at leaders in his party, he has also expressed sympathy towards them he accuses for slandering him. Adding that now the opposition is not led but has people jumping around.

“With the court ruling, I will be informing Ugandans my next step especially all the things that have been done by individuals that have been trying to soil my image and reputation by hiding other such issue and it is a pity that some of these individuals claim they are educated, but I will leave that to God.”

“Whatever the Court has given us, we shall move with that maybe, the people God gave heads that have mouths, ears, eyes and brains, the ruling of court could help them to know that they should never use their mouth alone, but they should use all the parts on their head,” remarks Mpuuga.
