Namboole Stadium Okayed To Host Africa Rugby Men’s Cup Games

With 3 days left until the start of the Africa Rugby Men’s Cup, Namboole Stadium was cleared today by the Competitions Manager from the Africa Rugby Union to host Saturday’s games as Uganda opens their account against Zimbabwe.

With preparations still ongoing, Emmanuel Fudribo, the Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, gives us an update ahead of the competition, which will feature the top 8 countries on the continent.

Emmanuel Fudribo Drama, the chairperson of the tournament’s local organising committee, confirmed the development while speaking on a Twitter/X Space hosted by the Uganda Rugby Union (URU) on Wednesday night.

“The structure of the venues is that the opening day will be at Namboole, then the second last day (Wednesday) will be played at Wankulukuku and we shall return to Namboole on Sunday for the final,” Fudribo said on the space.

Although Namboole and Wankulukuku are predominantly football venues in Uganda, this will not be the first time rugby is played there.

Namboole hosted a national 7s circuit that was won by KOBs in 2010 and Wankulukuku hosted the Rugby Africa Women’s Cup (Pool B) which Kenya dominated two years ago.
