Following the 2023 edition that saw travel advisories issued by the U.S. and U.K., the Nyege Nyege Festival returns from November 14th to 17th at the Source of the Nile in Jinja City. Known for drawing a diverse, global audience, the festival continues to attract attendees undeterred by security concerns.
Uganda’s unique cultural performances and styles took centre stage as participants from all backgrounds gathered in defiance of foreign advisories. The event became a meeting point for hundreds, highlighting the resilience of the human spirit amid external challenges.
Talent Africa CEO Aly Alibhai reaffirmed the festival’s dedication to safety, stating, “This is a safe place to be. We have extensive security measures from entrance to exit, ensuring all areas are fully covered.”
Beyond the vibrant cultural showcase, the festival provided a lucrative platform for local businesses, benefiting food vendors, cultural dancers, drama actors, and hotels, as revellers enjoyed non-stop festivities for four days.
Powered by Uganda Waragi, the event continues to support Uganda’s cultural tourism and local enterprise.
