Yesterday, September 13, marked the official kick of the Ekyooto Ha Mpango festival, in Fort Portal. Following the 29th Coronation celebrations of Toro King – Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru, day one of the festival was defined by a variety sports activities.
Amidst pomp and aplomb in the tourism city, guests of King Oyo and revellers to the festival, were treated to a golf challenge at Kalya golf course, from 10:00am, after which basket ball kicked off from 2:00pm to 7:00pm, Fortportal Basketball club edging team Wazee by 70 to 65 points.
A select few revellers, guests, filled with excitement from the games, then proceeded to King Oyo’s palace for fashion showdown, attended by dignitaries from the royal family, among whom was Queen mother Best Kemigisa.
From cultural outfits that speak a lot about the Tooro heritage, to the young and hip lifestyle of the models, the stage was lit up with elegance.
The cultural fashion showcase was also graced by the BLU 3 trio – Cindy Sanyu, Lillian and Jackie Chandiru. The trio excited the crowd with their presence, setting pace for their state performance on day – September 14.
