President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is set to commission the 2.47-kilometre Rushoroza Road, which connects the Kabale Diocesan Headquarters to the Katuna-Kabale-Mbarara Highway, along with two other roads during his Parish Development Model (PDM) tour of the Kigezi Sub-region according to the Minister of ICT and National Guidance, Dr. Chris Baryomunsi.
The other roads to be commissioned include the 0.76-kilometer Bwankosa Road and the 0.34-kilometer Bushekwire Road. These roads were constructed by Multiplex Construction Company under the Uganda Support to Municipal Infrastructure Development (USMID) project. In 2021, Multiplex Construction Company Limited was awarded a contract worth 21.7 Shsbillion to tarmac these three roads in Kabale.
Addressing journalists in Kabale District ahead of President Museveni’s PDM tour, Minister Baryomunsi confirmed the commissioning of the roads. However, Minister Baryomunsi issued a warning to the contractor, cautioning against breaching the contract agreement. He highlighted that certain works remain incomplete despite the roads being ready for commissioning.
“The President has been touring the country mainly to monitor and assess the performance of the wealth creation programmes in the county and the other programs of government,” he said.
President Museveni’s tour will begin Wednesday with a visit to a farmer in Kisoro District. He will then proceed to Rubanda District to officially commission the 132/33KV power substation at Karukara and visit another successful PDM beneficiary in Bubare Town Council.
On Thursday, the President will visit a farmer in Nyamirama Sub-county, launch the NRM Volunteers Nyekundire Group in Kanungu District, and meet over 900 selected leaders from the six districts of the Kigezi Sub-region.
On Friday, President Museveni will commission the Kigezi Zonal Presidential Industrial Hub in Kamuganguzi, a State House skilling facility, before commissioning the three roads in Kabale District. Following these events, he will hold a public rally at Rushebeya Playground in Rwamucuucu Sub-county, Rukiga District.
