SFC Refutes Social Media Claims of President Museveni Convoy Involvement in Buikwe Fatal Accident

The Special Forces Command (SFC) has strongly refuted circulating social media claims that President Yoweri Museveni’s convoy was involved in a fatal accident over the weekend in Buikwe District.

The reports alleged that the presidential motorcade, while speeding along the Mukono-Nyenga road, had struck and killed five people near Nkokonjeru-Ngogwe.

In a statement, SFC Public Information Officer Maj. Jimmy Omara dismissed these claims as baseless and clarified that the president’s convoy was not in Buikwe at any time over the weekend.

“The president’s convoy was never in Buikwe over the weekend, as alleged by the circulating posts on social media. We would like to categorically state that the allegation against the president’s motorcade is fake news. There has been no such incident involving the convoy in the last two years,” Maj. Omara stated.

He called on those spreading the misinformation to apologize for their actions, which he said were intended to tarnish the reputation of the force and its motorcade crew.

“We urge those behind these false reports to seek factual information from the Buikwe District Police Commander rather than relying on hearsay,” he added.

According to the Ssezibwa Regional Police Spokesperson, Ms. Hellen Butoto, the only accident recorded in the area over the weekend involved a motorcycle and an unidentified vehicle. The incident, which occurred on Sunday evening, resulted in the deaths of three individuals: Sadiq Mubaale, Joseph Wadada, and Babirye Nakate Hasifa, while Pretty Nafuna sustained fatal injuries. Davis Gondagi, another victim, is still receiving treatment for serious injuries.

Ms. Butoto further noted that the driver of the vehicle involved in the head-on collision with the motorcycle fled the scene, and investigations into the accident are ongoing.
