The Kampala Metropolitan Police says that they are holding Police Constable No. 55295 Alex Adei on charges of murder.
Alex Adei shot and killed 32-year-old Ex-girlfriend Babra Kongai and Police Constable No. 69923 Seezi Tusiime at Ntinda Police Barracks, last evening.
PC Adei went and entered Kongai’s residence and opened fire on PC Tusiime, who was inside the house before he shot Babra as she attempted to leave the scene.
He was later arrested by police officers and is now in custody at Jinja Road police station. The bodies of the deceased have been conveyed to the City Mortuary at Mulago, and investigations into the matter are ongoing, ahead of Adei’s arraignment in court.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, explained that Adei’s ex-wife had separated from him and had since married another police officer, with whom she was staying in Naguru Barracks. On the day of the incident, the victim had been at her rented house in Ntinda but ran to the barracks after an argument with Adei. He followed her to Naguru and fatally shot her outside her residence.
Owoyesigyire noted that while details remain limited, investigations are underway. There are allegations that Adei had a history of misusing his firearm, which will be examined as part of the inquiry into how he was redeployed and armed.
