UPDF Announces Major Promotions and Confirmations in the Officer Ranks

In a significant move aimed at strengthening the leadership of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF), the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs has announced the promotion and confirmation of 918 senior and junior officers. This announcement was made through a press release issued by the Department of Defence Public Information.

His Excellency, the President and Commander in Chief of the UPDF, has promoted 898 officers and confirmed 20 officers in various ranks within the military hierarchy.   7. Captain to Major – 63 promotions
  8. Acting Captain to Captain – 4 promotions
  9. Lieutenant to Captain – 155 promotions
  10. Second Lieutenant to Lieutenant – 650 promotions
