Pastor Wilson Bugembe, lead pastor of Light the World Ministries, has issued a stern warning to followers about the growing trend of placing more faith in pastors or prophets than in God.
While speaking at a fellowship in Kiwatule, Bugembe expressed his concern over what he described as a worrying cultural shift, where believers are increasingly “worshiping” their pastors or prophets rather than focusing on God.
“This generation is putting more faith in pastors than in God,” Bugembe said. “You see people constantly posting pictures of their pastor or prophet on social media.”
He added, “I know of someone who keeps a portrait of their prophet by their bedside, thinking it will protect them.”
Bugembe further highlighted the contradiction he sees in some believers’ behaviour: “You’ll often find a woman who never posts her husband online, but her pastor is always on her status updates.”
The pastor emphasized that men of God, like anyone else, are human and face the same struggles and temptations as everyone else.
“Pastors and prophets are not the solution to your problems,” Bugembe stressed. “God is the only true answer to all your needs.”
